After my 600mile service I found my idle speed at 1600rpm
So after I realised that the blanking plugs were left off by the dealer :spitfire I decided to have a go a balancing the bodies myself.
First I had a go with my Carbtune thingy and found it a pure pain in the arse :ymca .

So after reading this forum I decieded to make a manometer and here's the result.

The initial results are great, just need to fit a couple of dampners and this thing will be excellent :thumb . The DIY option is far more sensitive than the carbtune I have used to balance my inline four in the past.

Don't bother with vac gauges or carbtune, just make the bloody thing and prepare to be impressed with the results.

By the way the gauge I made showed a difference of 6 inches of oil compared to my carbtune that was supposed to be equal :nenau

Road test tommorrow.

nice going :thumb

did you put the same amount of oil in each side ? :bounce1

Door hinges look a bit intrusive, the bottom of the door needs touching up :ymca . The wire could do with being concealed.

I like it though.

Made one myself a few years ago...brilliant arn't they. I use a lead additive as my fluid..then if it does suck in on one side, then my G/S is lubed as well :thumb

I left mine the wood grain effect..more manly :ymca

For dampners try a couple of grub screws screwed well into the ends of the tube then the air has to flow round the grub screw, it works very well.
