As I'm pushing the bike harder and faster, I'm thinking I want to swap out the airshock.

Ohlins and Wilbers seem to be the most common... but at a full 200 pounds different, is the Ohlins really that much better? And are there other options I should be looking at?

I should point out that I'm not very good at playing with the settings, so I'm hoping to get one supplied set up for me.

Any suggestions?

The guys at Wilbers can sort out something that is specific for you and do the fitting and sorting if you need.

Ohlins, not sure, but they are good units but make the bike super tall

Nope - it's just that I'm faster pushing it than I am riding it ;-)

Hey Moly

I gave John a call and he gave me a bunch of great information and I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Wilbers, just wanted to check if there were other opinions before I do.

He also said it's gonna cost me more because I mentioned your name :D

Have a chat with Maxton as well Mav. I've heard some great reviews on their stuff and I'm thinking about them for my adventure. I think they are like the Wilburs set up in as much they will build something to suit your exact requirements.

My opinion of Ohlins is it's great stuff but you are also paying for the name and the other manufacturers can produce some fantastic stuff..

I used MCT for my Wilburs fitting and setup and they are awesomely good, even two-up with luggage the bike can be hurled about (yet still very comfy)

Ohlins is good stuff, but the top of the range Ohlins kit is about £1800, compared to £1200 for top line Wilburs.

Others are out there, but both Ohlins and Wilburs have a long history with the GS range so should be pretty good out of the box.

MCT can fit and setup either for you, personally I am very happy with my Wilburs setup.

Are you talking about a set at that price? I thought it was about £700 for the rear shock for an HP...

i have one bike (mono) with ohlins, and one bike with (GSA) with wilburs. i also had an 1150 with ohlins.

my view is that ohlins are just that little bit nicer. a bit more supple perhaps. Wilber's however are very good and miles cheaper.

if money was no object, i'd buy ohlins, but i'd be perfectly happy with wilbers :)

I've got a custom built Wilbers, been really pleased with it...:thumb2

i had sets of ohlins and sold them ,the wilbers are a little more refined when it comes to set up, and there stuff is billet not cast!!! allso service is cheaper iput the rod clean through the body of an ohlins ,the wilbers has a few dinks in the base but the bump stop doesnt let it go through the body ....says it all really mm

Just fitted a rear Wilbers custom made to my spec and is a BIG improvement!
Remote canister due to underseat tank and also preload adjuster. :thumb

Cp2

I have recentley put cp2 from south africa on my hp2 e, i am riding in asia T the moment, and i can say i haveno complaints, the thing looks strong has all the setti gs for f/s dampening etc. Thepricei paid was around 900 plus shipping ithink. I now have wp on the front and some good gear on the back and the full ackra race systemfrom hpn and the hpn tank plus woodys etc. The bike has performed great onand of ferrys , throughcrazy weather and some of the worse roads i have been on ever. I will post pics of my ride soon but in mean time i have put some on facebook so friend me there and check them out.
