Hiya, any advice for someone looking at buying their first 'classic' bike, ideally looking for a R60/5 or an R75/5 (the earlier SWB model).

Looks like an ideal first classic, but interested to hear what people think. 12v electrics, kick start as well as electric start, cant really see a downside to this sort of classic. Would prefer and earlier rather than a later one.

Not particularly mechanically minded, so just interested if there are any general pointers other than condition ?

RBW.

I'll start the ball rolling! A good choice for a first 'classic' These bikes were the start of a more modern area and have the advantage of greater spares availability over the previous /2, pre 1970 Munich bikes. I'd be more concerned over proof of regular mechanical maintenance than cosmetics (though a well cared for bike overall is a nice thing). One was sold recently down here for £2750 with 27000 miles and I think 2 owners from new. I know it was bought by a trader who virtually doubled his money in a month. I'm sure others will wade in with some pointers but if I had more room I'd like one too.
