Looking for a good tent

I bought a vaude mark II at xmas and have used it twice , put it up both times in the dark with less problem tha my previous kyham one touch (easy to get tangled if not careful) 1st time was next to a guy using a kyham and I matched his time for putting it up.
the vaude is half the weight and bulk of my kyham and in my mind is built better.

Nice lookin tent. Does it go up in one , i.e. inner and outer tent together ? Also what's the interior head room like ? How much did it cost ??
Cheers

cost was £220ish . the poles are seperate from the tent but are shock corded together like a TV arial, the ends of which just hook into the corners of the tent then the tent is laced to the poles by hooking the cords over the poles. you can even get away without pegs as its self bracing. headroom is 1.2m. you can pitch just the inner as a mosquito net if you wish, it unhooks from the outer quite easily.
cheers

Mick,
the poles are all in one piece, ie : they're all linked together with shock cord.if you look in the picture you will see that the tent is suspended from the poles. very easy to put up and yes there are two parts to the tent but they are erected as one .

As it's a about 25% dearer than the Kyham I think my preferanc is leaning towards them still. It is a very nice tent but I think the Kyham was offering more interior head room too which would probably swing it for me.

Keep it coming guys - this is all great stuff . I am much obliged for all the suggestions.

Trade-x is one of these warehouse companies like Costco etc. Have branches all over England, well Northern England anyway.

heres the tent from tradex it looks to be only single skin in the picture so probably good for putting the kids in on a good summers camping weekend but doesen't look up to prpoer camping ie:any time, any place, any weather. the last one being most important. sorry about picture quality.

Thanks Jez that's pretty much what I thought it'd be - down these parts we call that Trade-X thingy Makro and yes I've seen their £10 tent. Me thinks maybe not quite up to the global adventure

If you are buying a khyam tent then get it cheaper by visiting OutdoorGear

I have the eiger tent here.
Its very light and you really can put it up in less than 30seconds. Even the first time you do it... no sniggering at the back :D

The one thing though is that the attached groundsheet is extremely thin. This is so that you have a separate groundsheet of much thicker material and when you pack the tent away it goes away clean because its not attached. Also if you wear out the groundsheet you can just buy another one and not a new tent.

Thanks for that - you just saved me about 15 quid. The tent was cheaper and so were their postage charges to Belgium . I reckon you just earned a couple of pints. Thanks M8

Kyham Mckinley on order :D

My Kyham one touch is about ten years old, looks like the "biker" tent on Outdoor Gears website and is brilliant. Even survived the wind at the Simmer Dim when the Vango force 10's were about the only others that did. So good, that I bought their 2 bedroom Marquee thing for camping with the family. Highly recommended, and difficult to understand why anyone would take anything else away on a bike.

Thanks for the info, Eiger on order to be christened in Belgium
