The wife has booked a 10 day stay in Crete at the beginning of April and as I have three weeks holiday left over I thought I would take the bike, What I would like to know is which route you would advise i.e. down through Italy and across on the Ferry or down through Croatia Serbia and Bulgaria and on down to Athens. My major worry is the weather so any advice would be gratefully received as the information I have read really does not help

Thanks
Tony

I'd bet that the higher passes will be still snow-bound in April, might one idea be to get the motor-rail down from the Netherlands / Germany / France to the top of Italy / Slovenia to miss the snowy Alps. Though if the passes were clear then the scenery would be very impressive. Assuming the motor-rail is running.

One possibility might be to go via Munich then Salzburg, and onto Ljubljana which can be done on the motorway, and then into Croatia etc.

This maybe of help. Around the same time of year as well. Plus the rolling update as they pushed ever onwards.

Ref Crete trip

Many thanks for your help and bizzarley I did not consider going through Italy to Greece by Ferry on the outward trip and returning via Bulgaria on the return which means I will be returning 3 weeks later and hopefully warmer weather,
Once again thanks for the help
Tony
