Looking for: Free CAD Software for MAC

Hi

Right I am looking for a 2D CAD (maybe with 3D support) program that is free for the Mac OS Snow Leopard. I have trained in AutoCAD 2D & 3D and used to use version 14, 2000 and Lite quite extensively starting around 10 years ago but not touched it since 2006.

I need to get my hand back into it as this may have to be the basis of a new career so looking for something with a similar interface to AutoCAD etc.

If anybody can make a recommendation from experience or whatever I would appreciate it. I have looked at Google SketchUp but its not really what I am looking for.

Well that was easy to find https://www.autocadws.com/ I downloaded it a while ago but not used it yet.

I have been told that this app will only allow you to open, basic edit and share already created AutoCAD drawings and not create new ones.

I will have a look though.

DraftSight , Mac is a beta release. No idea whether it'll be any good though.

This could well be true having had a quick look at it. One reviewer also mentioned Solidworks Edrawings, who also produce DraftSight (ST247's post)

Draftsight is the 2D component of solidworks.

Its entirely based on Autocad as Solidworks had to do that to get Acad users to migrate.

I use it to open acad drgs much quicker than anything else i've found
