Looking to do 5 days in Scotland second week of Sept,

Yeah, but you're a very wealthy man JB....most of us would wince at £189 a couple let alone per person....(unless it was weekly at a nice Blackpool boarding house...bargin)
Have you done a week
In a Blackpool boarding house ?
To be fair it’s not a bad hotel & my mate said ‘it’s only money’ - but over £600 for 3 nights did make my wince a bit …..he’s a builder though, so is not without folding

Bloody 'ell Bellamy...you were in finance....glass houses and all that !

(No, never actually stayed in Blackpool, last went about 27yrs ago when eldest was about 4, Sunday mid afternoon and with litter blowing in the streets and many, many drunken folk about she told us she didn't like it....so we left sharpish)
Sorry OP.....rambling on and taking over the thread.....

He is only wealthy as he gets a sweat on opening his wallet

I’m biased because I live in the middle.

A couple of weeks ago I enjoyed a 500 mile loop.

Up through Braemar to Macduff. Nice Knowes hotel.

Next day a straight line through Aviemore, Laggan to Connel near Oban.

Home past Loch Awe, Tyndrum, Loch Earn, Crieff.

Glencoe is stunning of course.

The southern roads are good, but don’t have the Wow! factor.

Just stay off the A9.

Tbh, trips in/to Scotland should be planned like our BBQ’s…………at 4am on the morning of the event!! Or the night before if you’re the optimistic type?! lol
For me it’s all about the weather. You’ll feel a prize chump riding through wind and rain on the way to a £200/ night bed.
The islands are amazing though if you get a luxurious 16c or higher. Oban might be a great starting point. I’d take the A814 through Rhu and to Arrochar first though. Then Inveraray to Oban. 5 days is tight, cause assuming you still want to get back to Swansea??!! lol
Dumfries & Galloway keeps springing to mind.

I'd suggest that you next time try something like this, to avoid the A9 https://maps.app.goo.gl/1xh1VT4ke5uTJcri9 though the A86 is a fun road.

No goat tracks for me. I got burnt a few years ago on a south bound track to Helmsdale on a very wet day. And I don’t ride a rufty tufty GS bike. Gee it was tricky.

I like flowing roads where I can pass hundreds of 4 wheelers as I trundle on my merry way.

Which is most of Scotland except the A9.

We stayed in Paisley in 2019 and went up the green welly , Glencoe. Oban .
So just seeing where else to go as the 500 will be packed.
I can guarantee you the NC500 will not be packed in September. I did it in my van at that time last year and hardly saw a sole.

I too prefer a flowing road to one being too twisty, especially if it has a plague of campervans /cars with top boxes on them.

The Corrievore to Farr road is an experience, and it'll miss out the next three years of roadworks on the A9around Tomatin.

Another road for your not to do list is this one, which is even more "rural" than the one above! https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...try=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDczMC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw==

The road shown is my favourite type of road. There are plenty of them in far north of Scotland. Great fun and very little traffic, the odd logging truck.
