Loose Fork Bridge Bolts.......Does it affect 1150's??

Looking at 'Loosenuts' thread describing his bolts constantly coming loose on his 1200 and then Phil W too........and Mouse's

Has anybody had the same on their 1150's or ADV's?

I've had 4 1150's and haven't had it to my knowledge.........but then I've never checked them.......but I'm going to today...just to be on safe side

Who else has had them come loose on an 1150? anybody? :eek: :eek: :spitfire :eek: :eek:
 
I have checked mine a couple of times over the past 2 years using a torque wrench...they were ok actually they have a tendency to seize rather than loosen...
 
As I am a mechanical luddite.....exactly which bolts are you talking about ? I will check mine frequently as I don't want to repeat the tarmac/broken bones/hospital sequence of my last get off
 
3 bikes in 3 years and nope.

Even the :grndevil :grndevil :grndevil bike didn't undo itself.

I even changed the bolts to Stainless and didn't have a problem.
 
Put a bit of blue loctite on them if your worried. I did that with mine when I took them off to remove the brace for painting. Then again I've got a Skorpion 660 single and its held together with loctite. :D

Ps I always put blue loctite on brake caliper bolts as well. Though the bmw ones are tight at 40nm against 20nm or less for most jap bikes.
 
Front caliper bolts on the 1200 are 25Nm. Never had a problem with them, and I never use loctite unless I really have to. My pinch bolts have only loosened the once as I remember, after a proper torquing they seem to be behaving.
 
It shouldn't happen on the 1150, if they are installed properly.

From the service manual:
Slider tube bridge to slider tube
(clean thread + Loctite 243).......................... 25 Nm

Especially if they are installed with the proper loctite.

But if you are concerned, you can undo one bolt at a time, clean off the old loctite, apply new loctite, and torque accordingly.
