Lord Stones - 1st June

I'm heading out to Lord Stones today. Can't head out until 10.30 so aim to get there between 1 & 2pm. Should anyone wish to ride up there from Squires or meet me there, my mobile is 0780 390 3237 (I won't stop at Squires unless contacted). Last minute decision because I'm on-call. But the sunshine is too hard to resist.

Well? What's it like now then Elle? Last time I went up there it had bloody closed. Lovely place up there .

Not bad

Bit posher, but food was ok last week

More facilities - but some of the original charm has disappeared

As JB said, it's very different. The gravel car park has been extended & a section of moorland is also a car park. The cafe is probably 3 times the original size, plus outdoor seating. It's all table service too so no queuing! However, as a solo person, I had to share a table (outside) & was consequently ignored until she spotted me waving.

The toilets are now indoors - warm, fully tiled & with warm water!
There's also a campsite which has it's own toilet & shower block. I'd consider spending a night or 2 there.

Food wasn't cheap but what I had was good pub grub - £10.95 for the roast beef lunch - other options were only a £1 or 2 cheaper. In the evening, the menu turns into restaurant meals & as I left they were setting up 3 BBQ's which apparently they do on good days at the weekend.
