Loss of Nuetral Light

while I was away this weekend I had a little problem selecting nuetral from cold/slightly warm(i.e no nuetral light showing on display or zero on gear selector display) After a little bit of jiggery pokery it would select and then the engine would start. (no nuetral light or zero no turney of the enginey and big bit of panicy ensued ) As there are no wires or conectors to spray etc, I was wondering if this could be the start of something a little more sinister. I hope not Once on the go and warmed up the bike was perfect all the way home, mind ewe I was a little worried when I stopped at the burger van on the Brecon road that all would be okay, as it would of been pretty embarrasing to say the least. Any ideas or was it just a gs1200 quirk thanks in advance

I had the same problem last week.......I couldn't start then stood back thought about it ...pulled the clutch in and it starts . Next day dealer sorted it with new potentiometer ( spelling ? ) and alls well now.

there are some wires and connector that you can take apart and clean/spray. Have a search for gear selection/ rider desplay and there was some info a couple of weeks back over the subject

Thanks for the rapid response, real big help, as the threads say WD40 is the answer. When I got home I actually sprayed the GEAR Selector Switch just for good measure (I actually didn't really know what it was, so it got a spraying anyway!) Funny though as I have't washed the bike for a couple of weeks, too busy riding the thing you see.
