This is open to all who enjoy motor cycling.

This is an idea 'borrowed' from a dirt bike club I was a member of, the idea was to get more people looking at maps and planning routes, turned into a fun day out too!

HOW IT WORKS: Posters (see below) are placed around the countryside (if I do my job right they'll be on great mountain roads and at the end of some nice tracks).

Then two weeks before the rally I post grid references to the location of the posters. YOU plan the route between them choosing either road only or taking in some tracks (You will be able to plan a route using only roads if you want, as posters will not be sited off road but might be placed at the end of tracks for those who want to use tracks).

You collect the missing dogs names call back to the start where you will be given 3 observation questions the winner has the most dogs names and the correct answers. The will be trophies for the first three places.

I am thinking of running this on either Saturday 9th or Sunday 10th August.
The start will be around Rhayader (to be confirmed) you will need to call at the start to collect your question sheet. (There is no charge for this rally but, if you would like to make a donation to Cancer Research it would be greatly appreciated).

If you'd be interested in taking part please post if you'd prefer Sat or Sun. Any questions just ask.

Hi Never done one but sounds like fun especialy starting around Rhayder (Toms Rules )
Sat would be better for me but either way count me in

I'd love to try this :Dbut i'm at the sky party that weekend:blast
but if the date changes i'll be up for it:thumb

Hmmmm...interesting:cool:

I think I'm free that weekend...definitely interested....

Sounds like a good excuse for a weekend in Wales!!

Either day would do me. Regards the off road bits, are they serious or just like fire tracks. Could I do them two up on the 1150 with Tourances fitted? I suppose it will depend a lot on the weather around that weekend. Tourances and mud don't really work very well, especially two up!

Advice on a decent pub / B&B nearby would be appreciated. :thumb

Cheers

Martin :beerjug:

The idea is to make it suitable for large GS's or similar to have a day out riding some of the nice mountain roads around Rhayader. For the more adventurous there will be the option to take in some tracks (I would not recommend anyone going on the tracks on their own) As it's a fun day you can go round on your own or in teams as big as you like. It is designed for you to plan your route but I'm more than happy to advise on nice roads and level of difficulty on tracks (when I've planned the waypoints).

For those who want to make it into a weekend I will look into camp sites, B&B's & pubs in the area.

Nice mountain roads!

Tracks (Not to be riden alone)

I would love to have a go at this, it reminds me of the treasure hunts i did as a kid!

Only problem is, the first 2 weeks of August is the prime holiday weeks and I am away. Can I suggest early September? Weather will still be good and you might get a better turn out.

Sounds good! Tell me more! I'm free for either day and I could probably rope in a friend or two as well! :thumb

I'd be up for it at the end of August. Unfortunately I'll be playing in the Alps for the first 2 weeks.

Terry, how's about a north west "team numpty" :thumb

Hi Would love to come and play, have to be the Sunday for me though

Lost Dog Rally is to be held on Sunday 10th August.

Waypoints will be posted in this thread on the weekend of 26th July.

I know these dates don't suit everyone, if all goes well I may do another later in the year.

Start & Finish: Caban Coch Carpark (Just past the Elan Valley Visitor Centre on the B4518) out of Rhayader.

Start Time: Anytime after 10:00 to collect question sheet.

All completed answer forms to be back before 4pm.

Small Print: This is not a timed event. Rules of the highway code and road traffic act/s are to be obeyed. You are responsile for your own actions.

For those who want to make it into a weekend I can recommend a good campsite http://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk/ For Guest Houses see http://www.activehotels.com/hotel/en/unitedkingdom/wales/powys/rhayader
