Due to a virus attack and default setting in new Anti-virus software to "delete infected files" I have lost some sytem files relating to IE6 in Win98SE. The computer boots up OK and will open IE6 but hangs up when I try to get anything from Windows Update.
I am at my office with the problem PC connected to my network which also has another "all good" Win98 PC attached as well as my XP Pro laptop.
Is there a simple way to compare the Windows folders on each of the Win98 units to identify which files have been deleted? If so can I simply copy them over from one PC to the other or will they need to be added to the registry?
I'm pretty certain that I have a virus free installation now.
Would it be quicker or easier to just re-install the OS?
