My 590 seems to have stopped giving me voice prompts.... and proximity alerts...

I get music from an internal memory card, no issue, the unit recognises speed cameras and the top banner indicates but there's no verbal warning.

It works out a route but gives no voice prompt at junctions...

Each is set to 100% volume....

Cant get the thing to work.......

It's peeing me off...

Roger.

I take it you have gone into "settings > proximity alerts" and checked these are activated?

You could also try change of voice or a software update?

Or removing the headset from the device and re- pairing it.

Proximity alerts are activated. Software re-installed... same.

Headset is fine.... I'm getting music and a beep if i touch the screen.Just not getting routing and proximity alerts.... strange

I has something similar (though not on a 590). It was a replacement unit and a little delving around found 'audio system not installed'. only solution was to send it back for a replacement unit.

This wasn't entirely bad news since the replacement came back with 2014 maps rather than the 2011 maps that were on the original.

Suggestions:

1. It's a blessing in disguise not having the thing bleating in your ears; leave it.

2. Back up your device and do a hard reset.

3. Reload the UK voice files or any old voice files to see if that works.

4. Hunt on the www for similar problems.

5. Call Garmin
