Ive recently fitted different handlebars using sleeve expansion anchors to retain the end weights and hand guards.

Due to my inattention (and it was dark) the left hand side has lost it's nut and washers. :(

Does anyone have at least one bar end special washer and nut if possible?

Is it the bolt and washer holding the hand guard on in Picture. If so have a bolt and should have the washer as well.

Hi Ted.

The new bars don't have threaded inserts so I have the bolts in storage. I've lost the special washer which fits the hand grip ends. The lost nut is an ordinary M10 so no big deal.

I would love to use the original BMW bolts but have not yet found a convenient way to fit them into Rental bar ends.

OK. have just fitted these to Sues R as bars are smaller internal retaining thread. Used original washers as template and got a friend to machine up some new hand guard retaining washers. Ebay some stainless Torx bolts, thats why I have the originals spare.
Original GS washer on right. If you need anything like that let me know I will give him a shout see what he can do.:thumb2

For now I need an OEM washer, but that idea with the cap head screw looks lovely and I might go that way.

I still need to find a way to fit threaded insert into the Renthal bar end. It's an odd tube size so off the shelf expanding plugs and rivnuts are no help. The sleeve anchors have not been reliable enough so will have to go.

BTW, Im using Renthals because I never got on with the standard BMW sweep angle. I don't like sitting bolt upright and turning the bars forwards leaves me with aching thumb joints.

Pmed you.:thumb
Did the copper grease on bolts thanks. Here is pic of how original ends looked with just a bolt in. As to the tube size/fitting I have used expanding joint fixings in the past. Put a sleeve of tape or heat shrink over it before fitting then discarded the standard bolt and added a shiny SS ones. Found a pic of sort of fixing I mean.

Your new washers do look a whole lot better than that.

To fit my Renthals, Ive used a thin alloy shim around an M10 sleeve anchor bolt intended for a 12mm hole. I wasn't able to find any M12 (14mm OD) sleeve anchors. I want to fit threaded sleeves into the bar ends (as done on OEM bars). But threading the bars is costly (very large tap required) and a simple rivnut is likely to shake loose even if I can get one to fit. Its a work in progress.

The lost washer was caused by not using thread lock but the sleeve bolts look rubbish and will be replaced when I find a cost effective way.

Bendy Toy,

I am sure I have one spare in the garage - I'll look for it tonight.
