Lots of battery issues on here - which replacement?

PC535 Odyssey.

Fitted May last year.... left bike parked up 3 months until last weekend...., no Optimate.

Started immediately.

Money well spent. (so far)

I bought an Odyssey from Motorworks yesterday. It arrived today and I've fitted it. I can't put the seat back on if I use the lower seat setting. From experimenting, it seems to be the positive lead is getting in the way where it screws onto the battery and is stopping the seat from dropping into position and the locks at the back aren;t engaging. The high seat position fits fine. If I disconnect the lead, the low seat position fits fine too, but the bike won't start...

I have the same issue :confused:

Anyone have any bright ideas ? :augie

I have big hands, thick fingers :D and am less than technically advanced... but fitted mine myself, had a few wordy moments too.

However, did re-route the positive IIRC , and all settings worked, also got new clamp, which I did use.

Westco here, 7 years now & still going strong... No wossie high tech trickle charger either ( one amp or two ? oh just a quarter please, I may spill over.) A mans battery...:D

54 reg bike still on stock battery 43k later.... aux lamps, heated grips and vest, sat-nav....

".....Original battery is rated at 19 AH and deemed to be crap !...." If you read carefully you will see that there are many who manage to avoid these problems; It may well be that if you have to leave your bike outside or in a very cold temperature and it is not often used in the winter you will HAVE to take precautions or buy a 'special' battery. If you are able to garage the bike normally, use it regularly or trickle charge it when left for a period, don't festoon it with electrical extras you may well find (as i have done over many years) that the BMW batteries are surprisingly reliable and last a 'reasonable' time. My last one did four years before i changed the bike and was always OK.
