Hi Everybody,

I am looking for a 1200GS and there seems to be a WILD variation in the price. Even seen some 1150GSA going for more than a lower mileage 1200GS

My question:

Assuming same price, would you rather have a higher mileage bike with lots of 'goodies' or a standard bike with lower mileage???

I like lower mileage but I also like goodies.

I have a feeling some will say if its got a good history and if its clean and tidy then its mostly irrelevant :rob

Why does that confuse you:augie

I saw a low mileage 1200 Megamoto on here for sale today, which is a lot like a 1200GS (apart from the forks:D:augie) for £15000

Does that surprise you too??

If you don't want the extras, or they're in poor condition, then to me that might reduce the price. Unless it was TT Zega Pro's and the prices difference is £50

Mileage is only really an issue for selling up, or if it's due a big one shortly IMO.

Personally I'd go for the low mileage as I often don't like the look of tat that has been plastered onto some bikes. However, low miles on a 10 year old plus bike is almost a negative IMO which the early 1200's are getting towards.

I did have a std 1100 a couple of years back but I am shallow so much prefer the looks of the 1200 to the 1150 :D

I know that if I got an 1150 and a 1200 pulled up next to me I would be green with envy.

Having said that, an 1150GSA would be better than a stock 1200 :blast

Like I said, I am a shallow, superficial person who likes goodies.... :pullface

Buy the latest lowest milage bike in good condition with service history that you can afford.

Then keep your eye out on here for the extras you would like.

If you see something you like, and it's priced fairly, don't mess around PM,ing offers just buy it.

If the 1150 suits your riding style, then go for the 1150,if it's the 1200 then go for the 1200.

Remember there are no better bikes, just the one that suits you the most.

Happy hunting.

That.......

That sounds like sound advice. I can buy shiney bits to bolt on, but I cant really bolt on lower mileage and better condition.

Mileage isn't a problem on a 1200. I would like tio see service history from a main dealer or good independant. You can some really nice early and well sorted 1200's for sensible money and they are very good bikes. :thumb2

whot do you class as high mileage i am thinking of selling mine its got all the toys you need with 39,000 mls on.

Thats below the mileage on the one I was looking at :beerjug:

My shogun has 220k on it so not adverse to high miles it was just that the ones I had seen with high miles and bits on seem to be the same price as lower mileage with no bits on.....what you got?

08 1200 gs full spec zumo 660 spots fogs etc etc etc i was toying with the idea of putting it on here.

Ok sounds interesting, what are the etc etc etc bits?

I bought a higher mileage (31k) 1200 with lots of bits on. Some bits I didn't like or actually want, so I took them off and sold them. This then paid for a lot of petrol so I could increase the mileage even more :D

mileage

My 2010 GS has 22000 on the clock now. I ride it. I love it. I need to sell it.
I hate dealers who keep looking in their book and saying...oooh, really high miles..we can only offer x in part exch.
