Loud Horn Safety System - "Screaming Banshee"

I wanted to post about a safety product I invented last year and see what you guys think about it.

It's a loud horn that installs side by side with your stock horn allowing you to use both with one button. Just tap your horn to "beep beep" the stock horn or hold down the horn button and a super loud "Banshee Horn" kicks in while (optionally) pulsing your headlights.

I hear it quite a lot when I have a stuffed tank bag on and try to turn left when parking the bike .

On topic guys. Ive watched this product develop from it's time on Kick start. Its not a bad product at all. If we are being honest then a loud horn like the stebel nautilus will benefit us when things start going pear shaped. The pulsing horn is a good idea, but the flashing headlight has the potential to give some stooopid car driver the wrong message. So lets not knock the guy for his efforts.

Consider this

If you have time to press the horn, you have time to avoid the incident.
Especially given the nature of how it works.
This device is the ultimate rude gesture to the person who is attempting to cause you grief. One would get great satisfaction from using it, but as a safety device it is pointless.

I have a similar system fitted to my work bike, great for waking up dozy pedestrians unable to see the flashing blue lights and hear the sirens

On my GS? Think they'd all just look and think 'Tosser'. As others have said, if you've got time to press it you've got time to avoid it

I've no idea what '... given the nature of how it works' means but I disagree with the rest.

The horn is there as an aid to making others aware of your presence, not as some form of aggression. Use it for the former, not the latter.

Yep, exactly right, a short toot on the horn, look mate I'm here, friendly wave, absolutely no problem. A super loud blairing bull horn and flashing lights? 99% of the time this will be perceived as an aggressive act. If this works for you great, I'd rather just take evasive action then cave in the headlight with my boot as I pass

You are correct. Obviously in some situations, maybe even a majority of the time someone cuts you off or pulls out right in front of you the only thing you can do to avoid an accident is to take evasive maneuvers. That's not what this system is for.

On the other hand, there definitely are times where you can tell a driver is planning on changing into your lane or is considering pulling out and doesn't appear to see you coming - times where you would normally use the horn. However these days with people in soundproof cages blasting their music and texting while they drive, you need to be sure that the horn is heard. Being as loud as the Banshee Horn is, you can be sure that even if the driver is half deaf, they will still hear you. Also with the pulsing headlights you're even more likely to be noticed.

That being said, you don't always want your horn to wake up the whole neighborhood. There are many times where an air horn would be inappropriate. That's what makes the system the best of both worlds.
