Louder horn

You'd spend £200+ so you could flash your aux lights when you use the horn?

Absolutely.... the more that grabs someone’s attention the safer I will feel. But each to their own of course.

I used to have a Honda VFR, when trying to hit the horn all I managed to do was angrily flash the indicators at the offending car/pedestrian etc , Honda swapped the position of the horn & indicator switch around.

however, it was still 100% better than the current BMW indicator switch!

I used my horn today to alert an inattentive driver who had started to pull out of the Shell garage as I was heading into Fenstanton from Fen Drayton - lots of drivers do it when exiting that particular garage for some reason - two short honks and a glare normally brings them to a surprised halt.

.... and if he/she had been deaf, or listening to the 1812 on full surround stereo then he/she would have got ya :D

Just sayin' like :augie

Good one Myke ... I couldn't be arsed to reply, after all Engineer knows everything :D

If you need the horn, you need the brakes ... after all, the recipient may be deaf

:beerjug:

One should be able to flash your lights but these days most people misuse that signal, horn is still useful as most drivers are not deaf.

You'd be surprised .... the girlfriend learnt sign language to be able to teach deaf motorcyclists CBT and DAS.

Bring on the witty comments about signing at 40 mph :D

You only need the one occasion when the recipient is deaf, or got their in ear buds, or music extra loud, and that can be the one occasion too many. It's us that's going to get hurt.

One uses ones eyes too - there are always corner cases that one has to be aware of but that doesn't mean a loud horn is not a useful tool in the box.

cant get my head around all this Horn talk ..i cant ever remember pressing it, but i cant remember dawdling in traffic either though:D

Emergency vehicles have very loud audible warning devices - those traffic officer vehicles also have very loud horns - if an audible warning device is unnecessary they why do they bother?

Why don't we just get back to the OP, which is the best horn to fit with relevant ease please. Its like a feckin kindergarten at times.

Yes ... and I've know emergency vehicles with two tone horns, flashing lights, and dayglo be T Boned by vehicles pulling out

Even had a colleague killed on a police bike with twos'n blue's on by a lorry pulling out in front of him ....

Often, in an emergency, in heavy traffic (two lane dual carriageway) I would turn the horns off .. they just confused well minded folk ahead!

I got a complaint the other month :D

Evidence run, in a town, turned all my noise and lights off 'cos it was just easier to nip through the traffic under the radar, than have every bloody oncoming vehicle, and vehicle in front of me, slow down and create a pinch points. So some fecker phones in and complains that I was speeding and reckoned I was late for my tea brake ....
