lovely.................

That V-12 is an amazing Model Engineering exercise but. . .

It has no oiling system and just runs as a 2-stroke off low pressure compressed air (Camshaft gears same size as crankshaft gear so inlet opens at top of stroke & exhaust opens at the bottom of the stroke).

I spent over an hour following some of the links last night (:blast). Those giant radio-controlled aircraft are just fantastic.

Happy days - I've still got some model aircraft diesel & glow-plug motors in the loft somewhere :D.

Hi Bob...................

I did notice the gearing but considered it to be just a modelling exercise and the run up for the camera.

I used to do glow plug powered radio control long ago too.

I remember down south at an event a guy had a merlin engine on a trailer, prop and all . We were behind it when he ran it up - the backdraft jings - nae lice in ma hair that day :clap

Alan,

I saw that Merlin at Ingliston during the 'Transport Extravaganza' Show a few years back.

There's a jet engine on a trailer doing the shows as well - very interesting.

I must get along to the "40th Historic Motoring Extravaganza" at Thirlstane Castle, Lauder on 10th June. Its usually a good show with lots of different vehicles.
