I'm looking to put the low mudguard on my Challenge but I can't believe the cost of the mudguard and mounting kit.

KTM 990 front fender £180
Stainless fitting kit £60

Any other alternatives or are these the best way to go?

(I've got WP 43mm forks fitted)

While we are on the subject....

I want to do the same for 45mm Shiver forks off a Husky mounted in stock triples.

Its not so much cost, its finding one that can be made to fit. Any suggestions on this one too?

With the standard forks, I'm looking at fixing an 800gs mudguard to the standard fork protectors, not done it yet though.

800gs mudguard is about £35 from a main dealer. It can be glued to the standard fork protectors. A rear mount has to be made but can be done quite easily. I did this on mine but then changed to a 990 fender as I got one from ebay cheaply. IMO the 800gs fender is a better product than the ktm one. It covers more of the wheel at the rear and therefore doesn't fill the rad with mud etc. You really need a fender extender with the KTM one which is more cost.

The ktm mounting brackets from rallyraid do not fit the 990 fender out of the box - they have to be modified. PM me for more details and pics if you want guys.

Mike - no idea on the husky mounts - are they not the same as standard/ktm?

grab bit alu and make own bracket. i made mine for 990 fender. think the rallyraid ones are for 950 even though say 990/950

rugged roads do a universal undrilled one aswell

I'm currently using Husky fork protectors as the securing points on the Husky fork bottoms are different to those on the stock BMW forks.

It sounds as if the 800GS is an option with some fabrication to make it fit, though I was hoping to find one that combined the fork protectors and fender, like the ktm. BTW, is the fork width on the KTM the same as the qc?

I did get hold of the new Strada front fender. It a real nice design but it appears that the space between forks on the strada/terra is considerably smaller than the xc, the bottom securing points are different again, and then there was the fact that its for a 19 inch wheel rather than a 21.
