Low seat.

Don't shoot me but doesn't your bike have an adjustable seat anyway. Mine has two positions, low and high. I'm 6'1in and the high position ain't that high, when the seat is in the low position my legs are knees are pushed up quite a bit to make it uncomfortable.

Without wanting to seem dense, have you taken a good look at the hand book and the seat mounting system, perhaps you have missed something.

I'm only 5'6" and could JUST about manage my 1150GS with the standard seat on low setting. If you're 5'8" you should have no problem with the standard seat. I still ended up buying the lower seat though. There is little to tell between them at a glance without having the other to compare them directly. If you don't have access to both best advice is that the low seat has virtually NO padding at all and is like sitting on a plank as opposed to the standard seat which has some padding but is slightly less like sitting on a plank. Try going to your nearest B*W dealer. They tend to keep the low seats in stock so short arses can try demonstrator bikes. They'd be able to compare the two and tell you which you had.

Hope this helps

Maybe this will help.

The low seat is numbered 52 53 2 337 451.

My 2001 seat is numbered 52 53 2 313 234.

My seat numb er does not corespond to those so would that mean I have the bmw high seat ??? anybody know please

Check out these pictures to see part number location on the seat bottom. I looked on a new GS and it had the same number as my '01 which is the standard seat). I got the low seat part number out of an '01 accessories catalog. Perhaps its changed. Sorry if this doesn't help.
