Low seat

Hi everyone, can anyone tell me, apart for the seat being lower, is there a difference in the ride height and frame height on a low seat model 1200 gs adventure to a standard seat height gs 1200 adventure 2015 model ? I asked the dealer and he didn't know. Thanks

I have the factory lowered 2015 GSA LC and the bike rides lower than the standard GSA, I believe that the ride height is the same as the standard GS.

The seat on the factory lowered bike is a standard seat, the low seat is an extra cost option and is only available in black.

I have the standard GS with the factory fitted low seat, and all that does is let's you get your feet more on the ground, which I feel better with. It does not alter the rest of the bike in any way. Also if you specifie the low seat when ordering the bike there is no extra cost.

Thanks for the replys, i was hoping it was just the seat as I've bought the bike (2015 GSA) and it looks as its sitting on its arse a bit compared to my mates GSA 2014. I haven't had a chance to measure them together yet as the inconsiderate sod has gone on hols for 2 weeks. I thought it was my eyes as I've just come off riding a KTM 1190 R which was a lot taller.

It rides lower and harsher but no biggie! I leave the ESA in pillion mode then it's the same height as standard. If the ground is dicky I lower it

I don't think they look bad low but it depends on the weight of the tosser riding it I guess.

What is the 'lowered' GSA like 2 up and fully loaded? Any experiences - have you tried a 'normal' GSA??

I haven't ridden it two up or fully loaded yet, I did a two hour test ride on the standard height GSA, with the standard seat in the low position, and I didn't feel comfy when stationary. Ride wise I haven't noticed any difference on road between the standard and the low suspension model however the demo bike was fitted with Anakee's and mine has TKC80's. I ride dirt tracks in Spain and I live about 1km from the nearest surfaced road and the low suspension hasn't been an issue.

Hi,

The Normal GSA which was the TC was very good 2up but compressed a lot fully loaded but once moving was great!

The lowered one only ridden pillion as panniers are getting wrapped, feels better at low speeds, a bit more stable and doesn't squat under acceleration.

With the standard suspension model my wife was able to climb on board with the panniers attached and shuffle back on to her seat whist on the side-stand, on the low one I doubt its possible as the stand is too upright especially with the side stand enlarger fitted but maybe if the ESA is set for pillion it might be (will try when I get a chance).

Thanks Mr Anderson, Your advice was spot on. Put the ESA on pillion mode, ride setting on soft and the suspension goes to a nice ride height for me and has the added benefit of being able to lower it when pushing backwards while sitting on it.
