Right!! I know there are previous threads on here regarding this but hey I'll ask anyway!! My 850GS is suffering from low speed surging etc etc as I have a y piece and remus on it. Before someone say's 'Go back to OEM' NO!! its hideous anyway I get better acceleration and top speed with the Remus. Well is there a fix for this?? I have spoke to HM racing in Edenbridge, Kent they told me I was stuffed as there is no power commander for the 850GS but also I have seen the BoosterPlug on an American website and an eprom for the 1100GS in Deutschland!! What to do?? If there is anyone who shed some light on this subject I would be most glad..thanks in advance

Booster plug

Hi, just fitted booster plug to my 1150gs, bike runs a lot smoother seems to to have stopped low speed surging, early days but there is a improvement, will update post after a good run out hope this helps Kingo.

I'm sure there are many more technical views on this but a set of Brisk Spark Plugs and the use of 98 RON fuel cured it on my 1100.

I'd start by checking the basics, for instance doing a totally anally accurate setup of the valve gaps and make sure that you do the end float at the same time.

When you say Y piece, I guess you mean link pipe as there's no need for a Y on 850's.

But can i ask how did it run before fitting the exhaust?

Mines been fine for some years, but recently it's become obvious it needed a tune up. Mines still std, but I have a link pipe and a Scorpion carbon can I'm thinking of fitting, but are resistant to do so until its running right first.

Yep Link Pipe!!

Sorry for that Yep!! it is a link pipe, to be honest before I fitted it the Remus Revolution I had a Remus Grand Prix with a Remus collector and as as far I can remember it didn't surge at low speed but I did fit the OEM exhaust when I MOT'd it in July and it didn't surge it was only a short journey. The only thing I had done before I fitted the Revolution and Link pipe was to send off the throttle bodies to scrimingers!! cheers

Agreed.

There's no point in masking a problem by adding a 'power' add on......valves, plugs, coil and leads clean, new plugs, TPS, balancing........that ought to sort it :thumb2

I've an eight fifty as well. It always surged at 3.5/4k so I eventually fitted a Remus and link pipe. The surging remained but was down round the 1.5k level. Got fed up with the noise of it and put the standard can back on and would you believe, NO more surging!!! Can't figure it out myself. Bike hasn't been serviced in 4000 miles!

My 1150 has a link and can and was surging did the 5 and 6 wire mod and all is well once more.

Several tests!!

Thanks everyone for the comments!! While you have been busy replying to me I've done several tests. 1. original all in pipe - still had surging 2. replaced link pipe with remus collector box (about same size as one on oem) and pair with the remus revolution - still surged a bit not as bad but on the good side it is not as noisy and pulls like in 1st, 2nd again. Once again thanks for your comments the next step will Brisk plugs and get the valves done again. thanks

Can some let me know what the 5 and 6 wiring mod is!! I have been running the OEM/standard exhaust and would you believe it the bike is still juddering around 3-4k revs in 2, 3 and 4th gears. The only thing I had done before all this started was the cam belt tensioners and the T Bodies went to Scrimingers. I am at loss now as I have just done Valves, new plugs (brisks) freshly cleaned K&N. Sorry to restart this thread but if anyone can add something it would be great. Final solution would be to rid of it :)

Fit a Techlusion. The only real cure for surging!!!!!!!!!

I had simular problems with my 1100 :blast
Tried the cat code plug mod...ran better but trashed the fuel economy
Was never happy with the fuel injection from day one
Ended up putting carbs on it
Best mod i ever did to the bike....(The best mod i have done on any bike)

I put my Remus back on and it has stopped hunting. Again.

Cue victor meldrew... "I don't believe it!"

I had similar problems with my 1100, So adjusted the tappets, end float, TPS sensor and balance the throttle body's, what an amazing difference. stopped all the surging and had better fuel economy.
