Does anybody know if the lower front fender (correct term?) on the 1200GS changed through the years, or if they are freely interchangeable between 2004 - 2012?

The previous owner of Piroska fitted a Pyramid fender extender (I think), which I yesterday found out not only is screwed but also glued in place.
So there I was, with my brand new MachineArt, luverly and quirky, extender in hand, feeling like an idiot...

I'm thinking of trying my luck on ebay to find another, undamaged fender, but I don't know how compatible they are. Anyone?

The standard mudguard is made from polypropylene so any glue used on the pyramid extender will be a mastic of some sort (probably polyurethane or silicone). Slice through it with a small sliding/snap blade knife and peel the residue off the polyprop. Then use something similar to fit the new extender.

You could also try a "cheese wire" as used by windscreen fitters.

Good tips from both of you, but sometimes I'm too fast for my own good. Especially when it comes to solutions costing money...

I've already bought a newsed one from ze German ebay for zerteefive Euro, incl shipping.

Anyone here in need of a fender with a Pyramid goatee?

On second thought, forget that. I bet that postage from Sweden is ridiculously high. Not worth it.

(OT postage anecdote: I bought a lot of stuff from Nippy Norman; that Givi 330, the Mudsling Max combo, K&N airfilter and some other bits and pieces. Four parcels arrived, but NN had forgot to pack the K&N. When I contacted him, he told me he'd fix that asap. And all my chins hit the ground when I looked in my mailbox the other day, to find a parcel from NN, SENT BY AIRMAIL! And the fee he'd payed was £4.59 (or .95)!?! Cheezus... I'm not able to send that parcel by snailmail to an adress in my own village for that kind of money...)

I got a carbon fibre fender extender from a guy in Spain via eBay. £19 delivered. It looks great and fitted fine with one pack windscreen mastic. It will probably be broken if I ever do any off roading but will any hard extender fare any better?
