This is probably a daft question but I need to ask it.

Are the two bolts on each side of the lower screen brace designed to be undone? (see attached photo - the one with an arrow pointing to it and it's twin out of sight and above).

I'm asking as they seem to be completely solid and I can't really see what they bolt into. Before I get the big hammer out I thought I'd better check they're not welded in or something.

Thanks.

yes they come undone, why though?,anyway hot air gun and a good fitting bit and out they come.

Thanks. I want to mount a bracket on them.

Kevin (reaching for a big hammer ;-))

Undo the clock screws first, jiggle the clocks a bit and then you can get a ratchet across and undo them. Pain the arse job but it works. Otherwise, take clocks off or loosen whole light fitting and move forward. Pay attention to speedo cable at back which can be unclipped if need be.HTH

I have two screen braces. One unscrewed ok the older one would not budge. The bolts indicated are far too tight to move in situ and any heat risks damage to surrounding plastic. Take off the beak, screen, etc and unbolt the hoop from the front subframe.

Ram mounts will fit the hoop without stripping the bike's front end.

We, well Chris (Tunneruk) actually, managed to get them undone but the screen was loosened and the light and instruments moved first. After that the bolts seemed to be a bit stiff but came out fairly easily...well it looked fairly easy from where I was lounging! :augie

Thanks for the advice in this thread and thanks again to Chris who had no idea what he was letting himself in for when I first asked him to tidy up some wiring for me but he's done a great job. :thumb2
