hi, my gs 800 is too tall for me to handle at standstill, need to lower it, have dropped forks in clamps about 25 mm, but the rear needs to come down, any ideas, can i get the stock spring altered or can i buy a smaller spring.

I'm seriously contemplating lowering mine, I manage with it as it is, but an extra 25mm or so would make a lot of difference. My biggest concern is, how does it affect the bikes off road capability? I'm pretty sure that as a novice when it comes to off road riding, that it isn't going to cause me any problems. But, I'd like to hear some opinions before I go ahead and lower it?

Cheers

mrs Berin (dr JM here) lowered hers with the hyperpro kit (fitted at GP next to H cafe in berinsfield) and it's been fine on and off road.

thanks :D :thumb2 I realise the ground clearance is reduced, but was really wondering if it actually causes anyone a problem off road. Can't really see myself doing the kind of off roading which an extra 25mm ground clearance would make all the difference - but would like to hear it from someone first hand - I can be a bit of a stress bunny, and like to cover every conceivable situation before I change something :P :blast

I had to 'adjust\modify' my centre stand and side stand after grounding on bends whilst touring fully loaded..

So what other effects are you worrying yourself sick over? The suspension still goes all the way up and down, the wheels still rotate, the chain is the same length...

Stop thinking of reasons not to do it and get your wallet / spanners out! :thumb2

On full length suspension I decked out several times in Morocco hooning across river beds etc. That's what the bash plate is for...

It doesn't actually reduce the ground clearance by that much. Mrs Berin hasn't grounded it, but it doesn't really matter if it did. Might have an effect on jumps :).
