and this as well...
And so it begins......

How difficult is it to drop the front suspension a bit?
Is it as simple as slackening the clamps, or is it a bit more involved?
I guess I'll need some bar risers as there's not much clearance above the tops of the sliders.

Many more questions to follow...

what bike G/S or GS

on the GS, with risers, you can slacken the yokes and drop them through for about 30mm. The rear shock from the 80/100R will lower the rear by the same or more.

Oops! Yes a R80GS.
So it is just as simple as slackening the clamps and dropping it down a bit? Nice one nud1e, I'd best order some risers. :thumb2

OK, anyone know where I can get some risers? I spoke to a lad at Motorworks and he said there weren't any and something about using another bottom half of a top yoke to space it out? I think we may have got our wires crossed somewhere.

I've seen two possible ways to attack this. One is to convert to the later R100GS type bar risers, where there are a number of aftermarket suppliers who supply a piece to raise the bars (misgel included!), and the other is to remove the threaded rods from your stock risers, cut blocks of alloy to fit under your existing risers and then find longer threaded rod to replace what is currently in your top caps...

This is what my yokes look like:

Now I don't understand what the lad from Motorworks was talking about. I fail to see why it is so difficult to fit some risers?
Won't the Wunderlich ones on the BMWBikeBits website do? Part number WL8160047.

my answer was (wrongly) for a G/S, if yours is a GS, then you can buy the riser inserts from any of the aftermarket suppliers...He may have made the same mistake I did and was thinking of these...
