I'm looking for an F650 gs twin but I need the factory lowered version being only 5'4" - I had one before and desperately regret selling it. As they seem hard to find I'm also considering the F700. Can anyone tell me how difficult/possible/costly it is to an after factory lowering? That way I could look at standard height second-hand bikes as well with a view to getting them lowered.
I'd be grateful for comments.;)

I am surprised that at 5'4" you require a lowered suspension model; have you had the opportunity to try a standard model with a the lowered seat? Having the suspension lowered not only reduces ground clearance, increases the cost and also results in there being no option of a centre stand.

I has an F650 single ages ago with a low seat but it was way too high on certain cambers. I also had a 650 twin bought in 2008 with a lowered suspension and it seemed absolutely fine. I don't go off road as I do that on my Serow and I don't have centre stands anyway to avoid the weight. I haven" t tried the 650 twin with a low seat - it would certainly be worth trying if my local dealers can oblige.
Thanks.:thumb2

Hi katy
I would try the twin with a lower seat.
I am 5'4" and I started with a factory lowered single F650GS and moved on to a standard twin with a lower seat. and it is fine for me (in fact I have just changed to a standard bike with a standard seat but I can see that might be too much of a jump.)
If you need to buy a lowered seat I will have one for sale in a couple of weeks.
Anne
