Lucky to escape the grim reaper on Sunday.

Must remember to have my laptop handy with google at the ready whilst riding across Ireland tomorrow.

F'kin hobby motorcyclist all with an opinion

HaHa - might have different rules in Ireland so take extra care.

God I hope this debate doesn't keep going into the weekend or else we will have a load of GS'ers fighting outside the Hotel in Leenaun!!!!!! Nearly Guinness time everyone!

I totalled a Ducati 996 on a demo ride years ago, writing it off whilst I sommersaulted over the car that had decided to take the right hand turn just ahead of it without any warning. Classic accident. I was most certainly not the first and I won't be the last to be caught out like this. You (hopefully) live and learn. However, I was given two options - be charged for driving without due care and attention, or do a naughty driver training day. I took the naughty day which turned out to be a riot and led me on the do other courses to help me deal with general twattery on the roads.

I was absolutely stunned they were going to charge me, but the nice policeman pointed out that as all car drivers are twats (allegedly) I should have expected him to do something unexpected and as I hadn't, wasn't driving with the care and attention he would expect of a motorcyclist. It's a hard lesson. The Police even sat and watched at least 5 other drivers make the same turn after the accident.

The important thing is that you (and I) have walked away with life and limb intact. Put it down to experience and bad luck, but I try and do all I can (save for the POLITEhi viz) to make sure I am ready for the stupidity of others in the future. Probably an impossible task.

As I said to the rozzers at the time, 'no one on that bike was paying more attention to what was going than me'. It doesn't feel quite right that I was blamed for this, but if I had expected it, might have not ended up lying in the road thinking I'd bust both my nuts on the tank (I hadn't!).

Glad you are safe and obviously fit and feisty!

I'm gonna hire Mystic Meg and bring her pillion on all my excursions from here on out!!

I might just pop over to Galway this weekend for some Russian Roulette blind cornering!!

Don't forget a Go Pro either. Put up the footage on here so all the amateur cops/barrack room lawyers/know-it-alls/Fuckwits can comment. You will provide endless free entertainment for their tiny minds.

The lesson for this forum is, don't go shouting the odds before one has done ones research, otherwise one might suffer terrible public embarrassment :)

The rider managed to navigate around the parked car but unfortunatly was unable to give way to a oncoming vehicle if there was no oncoming vehicle the colision would not have happend. So whos fault your guess less speed and the rider would have been able to give way to the oncoming car
