Got right heated grip swapped by dealer on my 2010 gsa friday.... Ride home fine
Today whilst on a big ride after a couple of hours really lumpy idle followed by cutting out... Restarts fine but i have to keep the throttle open to stop it stalling

Is there anything the fitting of the grip could have buggered... If so it's going back, if not its going to steptoe

Check the connectors to the idle stepper motors - one on the top of each injector body. Your symptoms sound like as if one were dislodged and not controlling the engine during tick over.

Will do first thing

Also sounds like one of your throttle cables could be unseated at the throttle body or throttle cable splitter, or the throttle position sensor requires a reset.

Eye balled the throttle cables all look to be seated unplugged battery for 30 secs did the tps reset no difference.... When it's light i will check again as my 300 mile journey home is gonna be poxy if i hit traffic

I was told the cables i disconnected had caught the servo and closed the valve... I think this to be nonsense the dealer removed the cables completely but my feeling is it was a face saving exercise as with a pair of moles grips i could only turn the valve 5 degrees

Service due in 800 miles im going to get Steptoe to check the cables through to the bodies

I changed out my RHS heated grip a few weeks ago, I can tell you it does not interfere with the servo in any way (I'm assuming Brake servo).
Id be interested to know what cables you disconnected?

All the work is done on the handlebar and is fairly straight forward.

I am guessing that while you were out on your big ride, the bike somehow lost the throttle position sensor settings???

Ah just seen yours and Pukmiesters earlier post ref TPS obviously not that then??

Dealer did the job...that said when i took it back it refused to cut out.. It got lumpy the other week and cut out once but not like it was there was no really bouncy idle

Mine intermittently has a lumpy idle. The coils are fine and mpg is normal so I suspect its a sticking idle stepper motor.

Bought it... I was off on a 800 mile weekend the next day so for 30 quid dealer fitted

As a conclusion i believe it was all bad coincidence, the tps took 3 months to break completely i believe this was related
