A quiet day (as befits the Sabbath) after a full afternoon and evening at the wine festival yesterday. Usefully spent, getting ready to leave tomorrow for Spa-Francorchamps.
Arrived at Domain Long Pre, my home until next Monday morning. A smooth enough cross country run from Cochem, coming into the Belgian Ardennes at Losheim, made famous in the Battle of the Bulge, which raged across the area in December 1944.

I am not quite sure how to describe Domain Long Pre. I guess the closest is to all it a self-catering ‘camp’ made up of assorted chalets. We were told about the place a few years ago, by a race team, racing at Spa or by some racing journalists, I forget now which. Either way, it is 20 minutes from Spa-Francorchamps and the circuit and all jolly good.
I bet this thing was frugal (not) on the way from the UK:
But it had the advantage over my low fronted vehicle, with no front lifter:
Anyway, the weather has cooled from the 33 degrees we enjoyed for nearly a week in Cochem. It’s now overcast and 22 degrees, with the occasional spots of rain. The rest of the week looks fine though….. or so says the man with the seaweed and fir cones. I have come prepared, as you can never be too sure at Spa.
Now to unload the car, set up my Ninja smoker / BBQ and do some shopping…
Love the context of your jaunting about Richard, with a handful of pics thrown in for good measure.
Just be careful, certain islander and his cronies might just shoot you down for putting in waaaay too much effort (in “writing more bollocks) into your trip report
The overcast weather of yesterday has vanished overnight, we are back to wall-to-wall sunshine.
Up and about to go to Trois Ponts, to pick up the bread I ordered yesterday. From experience, the small bakery sells out, so I took the precaution of ordering each day’s bread in advance, through to Sunday.
Then into the small supermarket for some tea towels, which I managed to forget to bring.
