M and S DURHAM CLOSED

I'm upset for Paul ........ like anyone who has had dealings with him I would think.

If anyone has a contact number for him could they PM it to me please, I'll keep an eye out and see if there's anything out there for him.

First I've heard of crap support but then I've never bought a bike from them. I nearly bought the Yam 660 but was unimpressed by the sales guy and the bike. The manager is supposed to be shwwwwing $$$ loaded (enters the Dakar I heard)?

Thats Ian Myers....
Keep up will you ?

He did the Daker twice IIRC bout 12/13 years ago. He's a hell of a off-road rider but DNF twice and was nearly killed both times.
The Bikes were leased off KTM both times and he ended up buying the last one as Katoom wouldn't accept it back after a 8WD Tatra had run it over.
The old Kens dealership was going to be M+S Honda until the Big H pulled out.
I guess the Hill is buggered now as Myers owns most of it.

12 13 year ago? Jeez my info is crap.

Interesting history all that. :thumb2

We do need some new competition on 'The Hill' as M&S never seem to budge on price as far as sales are concerned.
The parts and quick fit people have always been helpful and I usually get a good price on spares / tyres etc.

There was a rumour that Honda were going to do the BMW thing and have the bike showroom alongside their Honda Car dealerships on Scotswood Road.

Mick

well.......

:augieas i understand the honda set up is moving to westgate road.into the old yammy showroom that used to be kens.......

Update ...... Maybe

I heard A one today
paul vaughn is now at Kawasaki

and rumour has it they've took the Honda dealership due to open soon

next rumour I heard is that some ones opening a triumph dealership at the old just harleys shop

Re M & S according to other shop owners on the HILL apparently 3 truck loads of their s/hand bike stock has gone to the continent in the last year because of poor sales .
Half the problem is that they have a virtual monoploy on the Hill nowadays.Mind you the parts department has always been spot on if i needed genuine bits.
That said at least Hunters and A Z Stickers are still there for all the non genuine bits and pieces

Never been to M&S before.......................don't think I'll bother now after reading this:(

It's nothing at all to do with poor sales and everything to do with the £ vs Euro exchange rate. M&S were collecting second hand machines specifically to sell them, in Euroland where the weakness of the pound makes them worth significantly more than here.

Business scheme number 39a: Buy a reasonably prices GS in the UK, ride it to South of France, enjoying the views on the way, sell the bike in France and EasyJet home - the profit on the sale would pay for your trip!

I really can't see Kawasaki Newcastle taking the Honda Franchise....Apart from the initial set-up costs, Dave the owner is 70, He'll never see much (or any) profit out of doing it. It just seems to be a complete pain in the arse that I doubt would ever end well.

Would you like a little wager?
