Hi

In couple of weeks time I will be riding down to the Pyrenees for a bit of a play.

The plan is to set off on the Friday morning and return on the Monday with, hopefully, a day in the mountains.

In order to achieve this it's going to be a heads down thrash on the M-Ways all the way there and back.

Now, I've ridden through France countless times but never used the M-Ways. What I'm after is an idea of what this is likely to cost me in terms of Tolls - has anybody here done this before and, if so, how much did it cost you?

Many thanks
Andres

Have a look HERE

Put in start and end points and it'll work it out for you. Make sure you tell it you're on a 'Moto' coz bikes get charged less.

M Way Tolls

Don't forget to use the manned cashier points at the tolls, otherwise you end up paying the same as the cars etc. You can still use your credit card but it is much easier to have a few low denomination euro notes coins etc

Sorry Mike I disagree, I carry my credit card in a front pocket and find it so much easier than messing around with change.

I'd agree. I'd never f'ck about with cash at those things. You're bound to end up dropping some and working out how much you need.....

BTW outto, don't go through the unmanned tolls where you use your credit card. It won't know you're a bike and wil charge you for a car.

btw2, That's a f'ck of a long way for a weekend. Why not hit the Alps or the Auvergne instead? You can do it relatively easily in a day and get 2 full days there.

Although you could get to the Pyrenees in a day it's a lot further and a lot harder.

Cheers

Thanks all for the excellent advice, it's been very helpful!

Shenzi/Guitarman - yeah I know it's all a bit daft. I've 'done' the Pyrenees properly many times now and love the area and appreciate that I'll be hading back almost as soon as I arrived.

It all started as a drunken discussion with a mate about how we'd like to ride across the new Milau bridge - yeah let's do it over a w/e, blah, blah, blah..... then, we thought, well whilst we are in the South why not hit the Pyrenees for a quick 'raid', blah, blah, blah......... (you know how it goes).

Anyway, we've talked ourselves into it and, to be honest, I'm quite looking forward to it :D
Not sure my mate knows what he's let himself into. He'll be on a SV650 (nothing wrong with that) and has only just past his test - so far the furthest he's ridden is Nottingham to Birmingham :D :D

Anyway, I hate doing things the easy way - the last time I rode to the Pyrenees was on my old race CCM Supermoto. Just strapped some lights to her and she never missed a beat. I don't think my ar*e has ever forgiven me though ;)

Cheers again for the info
Andres

Do the bridge and the Gorges du Tarn and Cevennes, some great biking roads and a much nearer. Your mate on the SV is going to have a very sore bum long before you get down here.
For those interested our weather is now back to normal after an awful winter.
