Has anybody found a mod that allows the machine art advance guards to be used with bmw billeted mirrors?

Ordinarily, when fitting the machine art advance guards, the arm used to hold the original guards is removed, the mirrors screwed back in and the black cover pulled down to the base of the stalk.

The 2020 GS TBs come supplied with the billet mirrors as standard. If the arm to the original guards is removed, not only does the shroud on the billet mirrors sit lower, it is also loose - it needs to sit on a spacer the size of the original handguards. At the same time, you can't leave the original arm on as it interferes with the positioning of the advance guards.

Not sure about the 2020 GS but the 2020 R1250GS Adventure does not come with billet mirrors. I took delivery of mine last Saturday and they come with the standard mirror set up.

My 2021 GSA TB has stock mirrors, not billet. I thought the billet were optional as part of 719 or added on their own.

I’m running MA Advance guards to

Billet mirrors are part of the triple black package on the GS (included, not optional), not on the GSA. It's why the TB package on the GS is 800 quid, as compared to a few hundred on the GSA!

My 2020 exclusive came standard with billet mirrors. Think it was done for the last few bikes to push them through before the new bike came out a few weeks later.

I was gonna get the MA advance guards, I’ll think twice now.

Interesting.

I can assure you, do not purchase the advance guards until a solution is found - they will not work in a straightforward way with the billet mirrors.

billet mirrors

got them on my 2020 tb gs (not adventure) they do look better than the std ones.i think the salesman thought they had been put on by mistake.

They do look neat, though the additional cost of the TB package on the GS, compared to the GSA, simply can't be justified! Costs 200 on the GSA, 800 on the GS. So unless I'm missing something, that's 600 quid for some epoxy mirrors....

W O W

Just checked the BMW price for the billet mirrors, £409, for fecking mirrors

Not that I want a set, I’m happy with my pikey mirrors on my GSA TB and my MA guards.

It's just ridiculous. It's also the prime spot on the bike to get damaged first. I mean I like 'em, but wouldn't have chosen them if they were an option independent of the TB package.

I paid extra €800 for Tripple Black non-ADV and on the BMW configurator billet mirrors didn't appear on the photos of TB. I should receive my bike sometimes January and will see if it's going to come with billet mirrors. Reading this thread was surprise as I had no idea about billet mirrors on Tripple Black.

Doesn't show up on the configurator image. But if you go to the Motorrad page, GS TE, and scroll down to the model variants and click on TE you'll see an image of the TB with the mirrors. And if you look on YT for 2020 R1250 GS Triple Black, every one of the european bikes comes with the mirrors regardless of whether they have been specified with the optional 719 packs or not.

Seems that the US only gets the standard mirrors, but don't quote me on that.

This statement is not true. I left the arm on and they fit fine. Billet mirrors + MA Advance guards.

Wow, you just beat me to it, as just this minute I've come back from trying again. I screwed up because the first time round I missed out the spacer that comes with the billet mirrors. They sit a bit proud over the bottom stalk, but they do indeed work. Oh well....
