I write this request for help from a position of almost to ignorance. My wife has Mac - she moved across from a steam driven window 10 pc about 2 years ago and needed to be able to edit literally thousands of word documents. So we bought a very cheap activation key for office 365 (5 devices) which we only ever used on the Mac. This morning when she was trying to open an old .doc it said it was read only then said an activation code was required and sent but the Mac won’t accept it. After a couple more attempts with new activation codes it now says that the ms account is blocked and you need to log on on Edge. Quite happy to buy another office 365 activation but not confident that will solve the problem. Anyone any experience of this?

Define “cheap activation key”.

Problem might lie there.
I was dubious at the time but it said ‘lifetime’ and it has worked for 2 years without issue bearing in mind that wifey has a long standing reputation for ‘finger trouble’. It was about €12.

My office 365 subscription costs me £100 a year. Just renewed, never had an issue on my Mac

but she can create and edit docs. she made in that version of office 365...?

It was probably some bulk licenses (I used them in the past for Windows keys to run on emulators) that got voided.

I too have a 365 license (two actually: one from work, one shared with family) and have no issues with it. I do not use it that much though,

Thanks for the advice, we give Libre Office a go. She thinks she has already got it on her Mac:blast
