can an imac read an NTFS partition created by windows on an external HDD?

mate of mine has bought a NEW 24" imac & want's some of my (entirely self created & copywright free
) music files.
i had a look at it yesterday. very nice to look at & the feel is just soooo slick to use. probably won't do half the things my xp machines can do though, so it's tacky old fisher price windows for me
