HI

Am I correct in thinking that GPS (Garmin etc) only work via Microsoft PC's and none work via Macs?

It would be nice to use my new G5 rather than old Vaio.

Maybe when the euro sats get up we can be freed from the cyberpope's monopoly.

Simon,

TomTOm work with mac; Garmin announced they were working on mac support with a target of the end of this year.

BTW, TomTOm now offering rider for around £250 - so it's come down hugely over the last twelve months. No good to me though, as need to use it's own bluetooth headset thingy, which is a pain if you have an autocom system. Another minor gripe with TomTom - quite often campsites etc. give GPS co-ordinates, but there's no way (as far as I can find) to enter these into TomTom.

I use TomTom software on my palm treo phone, which plugs into the autocom no worries. On-Road navigation is excellent. Screen a bit hard to see in bright light though. Thinking of getting a garmin when they have mac software, partly for bright screen, partly for off-road ability.

Hope that helps.

Tom.

Thanks for that.

I'll probably wait for the Garmin. My Streetpilot3 has given sterling service, but the map is getting out of date - especially for europe (we don't seem to build roads here!).

I'm not too bothered about getting the voice commands via the autocom - I've tended to switch "her" off of late as she gets to be a pain especially around town and I find I can keep half an eye on the screen and seldom get lost.
