Machine x heads or crash Bars

After a schoolboy error and lettingthe bike roll off the side stand which inevitably fell over and holed the rocker cover, have decided that i best get some protection ( ooooeerrr!)

Like the look of the Machine X heads, but are crash bars a better alternative. Not intending to ponce aroung off road or anything stupid like that, just incase i drop the bike again ( and it bound to happen!!)

And yes, i have read all the reviews and such, just want some feedback on people thoughts.

I had the bars on my GS, then it rolled off the side stand and scratched the cylinder cover AND scratched the engine bars.

I then removed the bars and fitted the X heads, as I figured they'll be fine in a low speed drop, and that anything over 10mph would be likely to involve the insurance company anyway.

I've still got them, and will probably fit them to my new GSA, but will see once the bike arrives.

The most dropped bikes are probably at the ORS and they now fit engine bars to all the LCs. They didn't used to do this with older models as Simon didn't like the way the bar fitted to the engine. The design on the LCs is apparently much better so they've fitted the bars and they seem to work very well - judging by the number of times they get dropped and the condition if the bikes!

The BMW crash bars are designed to bend on impact and therefore are probably the better crash bars to buy if you go that way the TT bars end up writing your bike off !

I've had all of em, and ended up with the x-head covers, they allow removal of the pot covers without the need to remove the scaffold bars first. X-head covers are sandwiched between the pot with a thick rubber .

Having dropped mine on both sides on the same day ...within minutes of each other , I would say crash bars ,,,Yep they are scratched , but it went down pretty hard ....
Or it felt that way when i was lying on my back in the gutter
no marks on the heads ,just the bars ....oh and the hand-guards and the back box.....ARSE!!
