I had to lay my GS down outside a B&B in Switzerland and the X-head cover did its job :thumby: It's just got a few minor gravel marks in the plastic which you wouldn't notice without looking for them. I'm not sure how effective they'd be in an accident though.

Fredarooney, did you get rid of the Capo then? Mine started to shake itself to pieces after a year, final straw was part of the front brake calliper falling out. A real shame as it was a great bike otherwise and I had a great tour around Spain and Portugal on it, I miss the sound in those long European tunnels. Back to a boxer for me too.

Yeah mate traded it 3 weeks ago now. It's a pretty good bike but just wore me down in the end with the fuelling, heavy clutch and tall gearing.

I just love this bike though and it really is the complete package.

I've tested these on my RT :) 25MPH ish on a blind bend with a car coming round on the wrong side of the road, just missed the car but the front tucked and down she went, not a mark on the bike apart from a slight rub to the unpainted part of the pannier lid amd some scuffs to the X-Head, which is still perfectly serviceable. They did their job, allowing me to raise the mighty steed and continue my journey home, without them, I'd have been sat waiting for recovery. Top bit of kit, and they look good fitted to, which is a bonus.

I fitted the smaller front sprocket which sorted the gearing and helped the fuelling, could even live with the heavy clutch, but not the falling apart. Enjoy the GS.

Mine was knocked over hard by a parking car. The MAM guards were the least damaged, and still on the bike.

That was one of the first things I did and after two years I just had enough of the quirks. Still a decent bike though.

Would be interested in the 'why's and wherefore's' with regard to this smaller front sprocket, if you don't mind?

John

The gearing on the Capo is a bit high for some and around town you quite often needed 1st gear at slow speed. The front sprocket changed allowed for riding at slow speed in second without feathering the clutch. It also seemed to help with the poor fuelling that some of the bikes had at small throttle openings. If you buy one spend a day going around with threadlock! Great bike, really enjoyed it but in the end the niggles wore me down.
