Machining Delrin, advice needed.

I've just got some Delrin rod to turn down and I need to know what is the best tool (for a lathe) and what cutting angle I'd require on the tool to produce as smooth a finish as possible?
I'm making some casting runners for our ceramic casting system at work.

We used to use delrin for rapid prototyping when i worked at a defence contractor. You can really hammer at it with a machine tool, it cuts pretty easily. Not sure on the cutting angle or tool, i dont think it was that important.

But what do i know, i havent been on a lathe in over 8 years! lol

round nose cutting tool on a plunge setting ,for clean finish, high gear , n set yer tool holder on auto feed.

test yer angle, face on 1st n see whats best result

not an expert but its how id do it.

delrin is a trade name for acetal - a hard plastic.

rough cut with anything - then finish cut at high speed with a very sharp pointy tip tool at low feed - then polish with green scotchbrite pad at high speed
