Great to hear about this guy. Too often nowadays we ignore people like him as they pass by our busy lives.

Good on you Ronno, showing us how we should be!

Have a Great Christmas

Saved myself a bottle of Red Label: old Mr Martin doesn't drink. However, he was happy enough with the box of shortbread. He remembered me from yesterday when I called at his door this morning. The pavements and streets are covered in thick snow but he'd been for his pape. Turns out doesn't get it delivered it gets him out. (Maybe also a bit of conversation when he's a the shop too?) He invited me into his home and offered me a cup of tea which I had to decline as I'm working (:augie). He doesn't even have a home help as he "can do all the hoovering, washing, cooking and ironing". His wee flat was spotless.

He then gave me a wee sample of his passion: playing the piano. Amazing stuff. He sounded more than a bit good. He told me that his wife died 43 years ago and he's lived alone since then as "she was irreplacable".

What an amazing old man he is.

Edit: Here's a pic of the old guy at his piano. Sorry about the quality of the mobi photo

Its nice to spend a bit of time with interesting people, however short, in the modern ratrace. I love walking out and about, talking to people, and hope I make it to the middle of this century in a similar fashion to him. Good on you Ronno :thumb

That's the second thread I've read today that made me feel watery eyed.

Just shows you that exercise, no alcohol and I guess he doesn't smoke can lead to a long life.

Thanks for posting Ronno
