MAG Irl. Hi viz poll - have your say

will an orange collarette do? :hide

I'd sooner wear one of them.

I object to the compulsory wearing of hi viz because

it might make some riders complacent; they cant believe they wont be seen

I dont see why I have to buy extra kit when wot I have is perfectly acceptable elsewhere in europe and as someone has already said it's not a safety issue if you can still ride in shorts and flip flops

how long before insurance companies cut down on wot they pay out because "you're kit isn't hi viz enough" :(

Now you see there is a very good point...
If the insurance companies wanted to they could make it part
of your insurance to wear said HiViz to be covered by their
insurance... this all appears to be a load of aul bolloxs that
some civil servant has dreamed up to keep himself
in a job ... I wondered was aul Gaybo
involved or will he be leading the revolt from the front by kickin
in the doors of Áras an Uachtaráin and using that aul candle
in the window to burn the first Hi Viz ...

Thing is there have already been cases in UK courts where the amounts of compensation awarded have been drastically cut or not awarded because the injured party by not displaying lights on a motorcycle was decided by a judge as having been in some way contributary towards the accident in which someone else hit them and caused injuries ???

What's the demo about, Marc????....

Sorry,
been busy of late.
Right,
the Demo started off as simply a pro Bike/Two wheels good / happy Biking idea.
Then,
the collective sh*t hit the fan across Europe with dumb ideas coming from France, Brussels and Irelands R.S.A. in particular.
So,
having gathered a lot of momentum we've turned the focus on to;
~ no to compulsory Hi-viz.
~ no to P.T.I. (periodic technical inspections) - like an M.O.T. /N.C.T. but it could be a roadside spotcheck. (this is particularly dumb as less than 1% of crashes are due to mechanical faults.) can you imagine the N.C.T staff being the authorised place to go to get a Bike N.C.T?
~ the manufacturers would like us not to 'interfere' with our Bikes, they're pushing Brussels - so, no K+N filters, Yoshi cans, H.I.D's etc.etc.
~ the threat of compulsory A.B.S. that you cant turn off...

specifically in Ireland the Hi Viz is the first target - after that, there's lots more on the horizon.
Best i can do for now - i didn't bring my 'lobbying' head into work. :blast
keep an eye on www.magireland.org for updates.
ask any questions - i'll do me best to reply.
~~
Marc
