Main dealer selling bikes at auction. . . . . .

Yes, many vehicles in motor auctions are vehicles taken in part exchange punted out for a quick return.

Some dealers will not sell used stock over a certain age or mileage in their main franchise. Some will have separate used vehicle dealerships to sell the better vehicles. For those vehicles too scruffy for that arrangement or where the dealer does not have a used vehicle outlet the dealer will try to shift to a trader lower down the ecosystem - usually referred to as underwriting e.g. a BMW dealer is not going to take a 3 year old Ducati Panigale in part exchange for a S1000RR without agreeing a price from an associate who specialises in such exotica. Any vehicle that is too scruffy to go to another trader will find its way into an auction where it will be bought by a chancer with a can of T Cut and a bottle of Back to Black before being put on Ebay with a fake service history.

YA dont "really" need to spend that much on one to keep NCB

Why not get something like this from a fellow forum member and you can have a cheapish runabout of decent cc and comfort :aidan LINKY

Wonder how much that 2008 1200 will go for. Need a bike (mainly to keep my no claims active)

merlin sell the odd bike, a couple a year and normally not bad stuff either, there is a post on face book about this with 120 plus comments mostly saying there must be something wrong with them and no warranty etc

Nice RS's and would be perfect for nipping around on. Realistically I'll be spending much less on a bike though...... (was looking at the 1200 in jest...)

Dealers usually have a book full of traders who they sell to. A PX comes in and if its no good for the showroom, they collect bids and sell to the highest. No hassel of auction and the fees etc. They send it to auction if no trader wants it or if there's something wrong with it.

market is very slow at the moment for cars anyway briexit seems to have killed the market here or sent everyone across the water to buy and prices have fallen a lot very quickly

Did you miss these above Luke?

It was my intention to pay the €5 entry just to see what they made but a meeting for work stopped fun. I'll guess Mark wont tell us what the prices were ? ?
