Someone's cleaned your history......who else has been using the machine (who might have been looking at something they shouldn't have maybe ? :augie )

Go into tools/options and IIRC, under the general tab, you'll find something to do with browsing history and there'll be a tick box somehere that says if it keeps the info or not.(I've not got IE6 on this machine so I can't be any more accurate I'm afraid)

PS you can press 'prtscr' (top right of the keyboard) and then open up 'paint' and paste the picture of your desktop in....saves having to use cameras etc ;)

Thanks Bill its the wifes computer and the only thing shes done recently is virus checked thing, as for me still learning all the time :thumb

This is cleared when you clear the history (Tools: Internet Options: Clear History).

It can be done manually, but some Antivirus type programs will clear it out for you when you restart the machine etc.

Other main reason these get cleared is when a teenage boy gets using the internet for some left handed surfing... Any possible culprits using the computer?

It wouldn't hurt to uninstall the the'Google' and 'Yahoo' toolbars either, in all probability they they are seldom if ever used, and you'll have more screen area for yourself.

Using Favorites?

does any one know why my main drop down menu at the top of the page when pulled down is empty (has been alright untill a few days ago)

Were you relying on the Drop Down list of previously used links rather than keeping all your favourite links in organised "Favorites" folders?

As you found out, normal History can be cleared in several ways, planned or unplanned, but Favorites stick around. Also, if multiple Users log on to computer with their own Desktops, then all their own Favorites can be neatly packaged in different places. Always worth managing the PC though when several family members (or whoever) is using it.
