Make shift fork seal....

Anyone invented anything around the house to use to knock new seals in with ?:nenau
 
Whatever socket from your socket sets fits inside, knock in with soft hammer of any hammer with a folded towel over top :thumb2
 
Yes , but I do have a lathe at home. :D

All very well but you have to dismantle the fork just to fit a seal that way:blast

Put a piece of clingfilm over the end of the stanchion and some oil to protect the seal as you slide it down:)
 
Thanks for advice. My forks are all apart as i'm sticking new bushes in while i'm at it. Surely you can't fit the seal into the seperated fork leg or you won't get the stanchion with the floating bush on past the seal. It's got to be slid down when the forks are together ? or am i missing something ?
