A big hello to one and all.
I currently own a Tiger 1050 and I'm looking for new bike,I'm going to try out the new Ktm 1190 but now having seen the new GS I will have to take a closer look.
I enjoy giving a big harty wave to my fellow bikers on my travels but I
understand if I get a GS I will no longer be able to wave to none GS owners.:D
Has anyone change from the mighty Tiger to a GS and regretted it?

Hi Tiger1050.
I had a Tiger 955i (still got it) when I test rode both the Explorer and GS 1200 I thought the explorer good but The GS was the one I didn't want to hand back!!
So I bought a GS :bounce1 I still like my Tiger though :thumb
Welcome

I'm going to try and keep the 1050,probably struggle to get 5k for it now on 09 plate.
I can't wait to test the new GS :)

i went from a tiger 1050 to a 1200gs, while i loved the tigers engine it was the suspension that let it down, i went for ohlins etc and it was pretty good but still not good enough for 2up loaded and if i used a harder spring which i did try it was far to hard for 1up. I had an 1150gs some years ago so thought i would have a look at a 1200gs. So where do i start, the rear shock on the gs in my opinion is worse than the tigers, 1up and slightly better 2up (24k on it) so it was the first thing to change, i went for wilbers and its fantastic 1up,2up, loaded or whatever. The gs engine feels very underpowered well it 25bhp or so less than the tiger, untill you get used to how it feels and drives, and now its just as good as the 1050 with more grunt low down were you need it, better mpg and just more relaxed driveability.
I think the gs is a better bike than the tiger you feel as if you get more for your money somehow, maybe because its bigger with more gadgets.....dont know. Im happy i changed. :thumb2

I have a Tiger 1050, and just bought a 2011 low mileage GS. I had been considering a KTM, the SMT, but in the end test rode a GS when my SMT test ride was cancelled, and enjoyed the experience enough to buy one.

My 1050 is an SE with luggage and ABS, my second Tiger, and I love it -mostly. I have always had a bit of trouble getting it to handle just right. It seems to be very sensitive to small changes that would not effect my other bike, a Versys. ( I have put this down to the very small amount of trail, being affected by things like a full fuel tank or carrying luggage) But I know it well now, have it sorted, and the engine is beautiful.

I am likeing the GS - a lot, but not sure I like it more than the Tiger.

Time will tell. Only a few miles under my belt yet. I hope to make that a few hundred this weekend. The GS has so much low down grunt, and always seems to be in the right gear, and the handling is sharp, so I will for sure be quick on it. But the Tiger is a cracking bike and I love it. I am keeping both for now, and will decide which one to sell in a month or so time.

As a second opinion, I offer my son's thoughts. He is only 22 and rides everything like he stole it, and does ride every day all year round. He rates the GS well ahead of the Tiger, which he has never liked.

We are all different .....
