My mates just repainting my Adv tank in Mandarin. I got the paint from my local paint supplier, and although the paint card said BMW Mandarin, the colour isn't right. The local BMW bike dealer wanted about £55 for 1/2 litre which is mental!

Anyone got good source in Leicestershire.... urgently please!!!!

Thanks

Will

If you quote the BMW paint code for the desired colour, any reputable paintshop can match it.

Mandarin paint needed urgently

Paint code under seat is 736, but my local paint shop, who are normally excellent, said they could find any ref to that number.

Try a company called RS paints. Don't remember where they are,, but the produced very professional products IMO.

Decent product, but a wee bit on the dear side. BMW's £55 is a better price. They do, however, have the equipment to match and mix from paint flakes if you have no idea what your colour is.

It`s not local to you or your mate, but Motobuild in Burscough would match it I`m sure.
If you do ring them, ask for Martin and say I sent you :thumb

Fantastic!

Fantastic Rob!

Off to Coalville Halfords tomorrow then. Cheers mate, just the info I needed!!!

I got the original from GWH in Coalville, who are normally very good, I'll try them first with the number you've given me.

Thanks

Try NRP in Nuneaton, they deal in paint and replacement Car panels
A couple of the lads are bikers and know their stuff; if you have the paint code then they should be able to help you.
I have always had good service from them; they will even make up aerosols in your colour.
Give them a call on 02476 383737

Last time I bought BMW paint, the price included hardener, thinners and lacquer as well as the base colour paint (all in the same quantity as the paint).

It's still pricey but isn't so bad when you consider you will still have to pay for the thinners etc. if you buy the paint on it's own, it will also probably be the best match.

Still struggling!

Went to Halfords Rob, and whilst very helpful, their colour cards had just about every colour except Mandarin 414, and nothing that was even close (strange?)

Am going to give pom001's man in Nuneaton a try in the morning as that's only 20 mins from me.

Don't Mandarin GS's ever get scratched or something!!!!!

Will

If they get scratched you just order the £15 pack from the dealer. Comes with base coat and laquer spray cans. Thats what I did when I had to weld my 1150's Mandarin tank. Got a good finish with it too.

You could always spray it that monkey piss yellow (aka sunny yellow) :D

Got some!

Pom001's people in Nuneaton (NRP)

Brilliant, very helpful and mixed the right stuff while I was there.

Thanks to everyone for the various suggestions.

Will
