I asked BVM if they would fit a switch to turn off the EU stupid ruling of Day Headlight :shoot: Reply 'We would'nt be happy to do it, may affect your Warranty, and the cost of a new/old loom, new handlebar switch etc etc ' LOL
Headlights in daylight may help conspicuity  but mostly serve to annoy drivers, the natural suspension movement may give the impression of 'Flashing' and if any Rider is foolhardy enough to dream that a driver has 'Seen' you, seen you and gives a S- -T, then that rider is Heading to The Scene of an Accident.
So, is the easiest way to just Piggyback the connector into the Headlight via a simple on/off switch?:D

Get a second hand set of switch gear from someone like motoworks

I know a guy who did just that, the wiring is different though so you have to re-wire them to the 02 spec. It would be easyer to switch the live, then it is done.

Might be worth checking your insurance, I know it shouldn’t matter, but you can bet they will try and not pay out if you binned it. Especially with it being a new EU regulation.

Andy,

Its not an EU regulation. Its the manufacturers who have decided to do it voluntarily.

On the point of the wiring for the switches from last year and this years model being different, has this been confirmed?

Bob

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS. I'TS EASY

Piece of cake, just unplug the two wire connector behind the headlight and eveything functions Less the Dip Head light. ;)
Might still consider a switch and relay.

EU law or not, if you modify your bike from standard and do not tell your insurance company you are taking a risk.
No doubt some lawyer type can give the techo-speak, but I understand that insurance is an unusual contract, you are required to disclose anything that you know that may be relevant.
Given insurance companies profits are falling (my heart weeps) they are looking harder at trying not to pay out...
Have a prang when because somebody 'didn't see you' and they just may claim that its partly your fault!

Think I'll raise this insurance issue at the MAG meeting tonight. I bet Jim is right they will try to wriggle outof liability.

Errm - I know this probably sounds like the bleeding obvious, but have you considered ringing your insurers and asking?

Mike:confused:
