Mane Event

Just looked at the Maneevent website, can't believe the price of the bags! You can get bags from any decent sports store that will fit into panniers at a fraction of the price. I have a pair of Hi-Tec sports holdalls which have a main compartment plus end compartments. Total cost £30. They fit into my Traxx Panniers with just the right amount of slack, to enable easy loading.

In my opinion so called 'custom pannier bags' are a rip off for the gullible or must have it all bike owner.

People would be far better off looking at what their local sports shops or markets are selling. The bags may not be an exact fit but they will be value for money.

Well said Steve, I have been of the same opinion for some time now. Obviously any "custom made " bag is going to be more expensive to make as numbers will be down on a mass produced bag and you need to decide yourself which way to go. We bought some very cheap British Airways cabin Bags for our K1200LT, less than £20 the pair at a retail outlet and they fitted a treat. Any odd shaped space (the LT Panniers are not rectangular) was filled with shoes and other oddments. Getting back to Mane Event I was thinking of (just thinking) a pair for our GS (Vario Panniers) but looking at the Pictures on their Website it appeared that the Nearside (exhaust) Bag was not shaped to fit into the recess and the back of the Pannier. I queried this with Mane Event thinking that this detail was not clear in the Picture and was told that they had tested many designs for the Vario Pannier and that this was the best option. I didn,t agree so didn,t buy.

if you have the bmw ali panniers, i suggest getting waterproof bags.

i know there are owners on this forum that have not had them leak, but i think they've been lucky. bmw did not bother to redesign the seals for nothing, even though it seems possible they have not entirely fixed the problem.

Just finished reading this site. Was thinking of parting with some of my hard earned pension to purchase two bags. After reading, didn't take me too long to change my mind.

Down to JJB or TK Maxx.

When I got my 1200RT I took a mates advice and went looking around the bag shops, ended up buying a pair from Clarks shoe shop of all places, around £20 the pair and a perfect fit, quite nice quality too :thumb
