Many folk going to Rosedale?

Wise words - we need to be careful out there...otherwise we can expect a LOT more of this....the below not Pockley Moor then? (Birk Nab Farm), had a notice on for last couple of years - but sign I think is new - and no sign of recent use when I was there ;)

Sure , you can get upto 65mph on Rudland Rigg , in fact a ton plus is possible if you are the Knighter or similar or daft ( OK thats most of the Tossers then ). Don`t forget that the Rigg is a carriageway & therefore the RTA applies with a max speed of 60 mph I believe for single carriageways . The TRF advocate a voluntary max speed of 25 mph when the conditions are suitable . The Rosedale weekend being a Bank Holiday will attract many walkers onto the hills . The NERC bill has already closed Hutton Gate to the North of Rudland Rigg & the local TRF group are trying to get that decision reversed ( using some clause of the act , too complicated for me to understand ) .
All I am saying here really is by all means have a good time but PLEASE be mindfull of the image you portray to " others " , unfortunately it`s the "others" who seem to have the ears of the powers that be.
Pockley Moor is still open although a TRO is currently being prepared . Part of the moor is so deeply rutted that I doubt a boxer could make progress.
Harry

That was why I said it was dangerous at the mo if if you don't know it. It's a very straight and (potentially) fast road.
I've been riding up there on a regular basis for about 12 years and always acknowledge and am courteous to other users.
I won't pretend there aren't times when I "give it a bit" along there but i have the luxury of living 5 minutes away so can play when everyone else is heading home to bed or before they get up on a weekend.
At the mo there are some ruts running across the track which appear out of no where and without long travel suspension could have you off at 20MPH no probs.
What I was trying to get across was enjoy it but take care :)

Is it just me or is there getting to be a lot of 4x4 activity on the trials nowerdays? Many of the tracks I know well are getting very rutted - especially towards Teesside - as if there was a lot of commercial tours or something being run. It'll all end in tears :tears I fear :(

Pigglet
Totally agree with you , there is a temptation to open it up a bit on the Rigg , and yes I may have opened it up a bit !
Fritz
I`ve also noticed an increase in 4x4 activity , don`t know if it`s a commercial operation or not . Met 6 of them recently as we where descending Bank Foot ( the steep climb up through the forest before the STEPS ) . Also noticed 4x4 debris on Pockly Moor . Agree , it could end up in tears but they have the same rights as everybody else . Not all damage is caused by vehicles , in the Cleveland Hills area much damage has been caused by the elements , the severe weather less than two years did much damage to roads , bridges and embankments as well the trails . Still the walkers will always maintain that all damage is the result of bike usage .
PS I wonder how many walkers use 4x4`s to access the moors ?
Harry

Yup, there has deffinately been an increase in 4X4 activity, there seems to be a lot more large groups about on the moors now as opposed to the odd one or two you used to see.
Some of the ruts around the rig and Pockley are clearly down to 4X4 use/abuse but as Harry say's, there is also a lot of errosion.
The big rut above the second gate up from Bank Foot was "aided" by a certain someone (who's job title rhymes with sleeper) by ensuring water ran down that course in order to prevent vehicular access.

Fritz, not got a map in front of me for the ref's but you can use Pockley to get from Cockayne to Hold Couldron

Interesting, will have to have a neb.

My mother knew someone who actively drove via the Rigg to Stokesley way if the roads were bad as easier in his old Landie across that way...defferent days back then though.

I appreciate the 4x4 have same rights...but they make it difficult to use same routes after...well...on my trail  bike, two up  anyway ;)

Interestingly the great floods of the other year year to the amazing re-construction over Kepwick...who says the County etc don't put money into BOATS...and they are definately for use by road vehicles at that standard, and the improvement up to RR from Church Houses too - the parks guy was asking the wife if we thought that was good.

So it's not all negative...but I fear for the worse...still...some good price TTRs etc around - one day I may try a 'proper' bike

I used to work at the garage opposite Battersby junction, the owner used to be able to get up bank foot & over to the feversham arms for a few in his Morina van :) As you say, different times.

How much are tickets?
The prices are on the link Trippy posted.
I managed to dig through the long thread on the club forum and I'm fairly sure they will discount if you don't want the whole 3 nights bit (I've got to be home for some family stuff early Sunday). The last day for booking is today IIRC
I've not really been to Yorkshire so fancied some of the off road routes but from another thread on the club forum it seems that there are limits and might not get a place, so I've now decided not to go.

Simple, club members get a discount, a benefit of being a club member. No different to any club events (BMF or MAG events for instance). There is a cost to putting the event on, and the club discount that cost to members.
Fair enough. I guess you assume most are attending the whole thing so didn't vary the Single Night (dinner, camping and breakfast) - rhetorical really as I've decided not to go :(

Looks splendid ;) , now can I take the DRZ? :nenau :bounce1

And where the feck is Chris  Kelly on all these rideouts?

Just back from Germany, if you must know: Took the bike "home" to the factory at Spandau and for a bimble around the Black Forest .... and Mosel valley .... and the Vosges....

Bike is now on slicks and 2,000+ overdue for a 30,000 mile service....:rob

...oh and it's Kelley ...not that it bugs me...:P

Had a run over the top Saturday (bunch of West yorks TRF came other way beaming). Very dry and lots of loose stuff, but I couldn't find the ruts you mentioned  there were a few bunny hops mind:D

Fantastic ride out, and managed to get Bev along the lot (excepting top taller steps) in fine style...the lady loves the off road :clap

Gods Country :thumb

The rutsi was on about were between Bloworth crossing and Ouse Gill Head.
Coming from bank foot they are ok if you keep left but were quite deep if you were on the right. Seems to be from water running across the road. Ok if your taking it steady but would have you out the seat if your moving a bit.

The section of pockley we do which is deffinately open is from Cockayne end straight through to Wether Cote Farm, really dry now :thumb2
